Schools Cross Country Final Day
The South Dublin Schools Cross Country League reached its climax today with a number of schools involved in the event at Tallaght Athletic Club. All of the schools that had been running in each of the local parks of Clondalkin, Lucan and Tallaght came together for the final. There was great excitement for all involved and the mayor of South Dublin County Council was also in attendance. See the pictures below.

Principal’s news
It has been such a busy term so far for everybody at the school. We had our wonderful arts launch, featured in the local paper, got our first green flag to name but a few things.
We are extremely delighted to have gotten an extra teacher after appealing to the department of education and skills appeal’s board. This means that we will be able to keep our junior infants in three groupings when they go into senior infants. This is going to give them the best possible start in their education and will stand to them in the years ahead. We have really tried to keep the book and material’s bill as low as possible and in all cases the cost is less than last year. Bills can be paid to Lesley using the envelope provided to the school office.
This year we will be saying goodbye to Des our caretaker who has worked with us over the last three years. We would like to thank Des for all his work and wish him all the best for the future. We know he will always be a great friend to the school. We will shortly be advertising in the local press for a new school caretaker. I would like to thank you all for making walk on wednesday such a success in the school. There will be a class competition for walkers coming soon. Congratulations to Linda and the Green schools committee who have worked so hard for the school’s first Green flag for waste and recycling management.
The staff are currently working on our literacy and numeracy three year plan which will map out what we want to achieve in these vital areas over the coming years. We will also be sending out the school reports in June.
School tours will be taking place in the coming weeks and other events to look out for include:
- summer fun day
- Our group of mums running the mini marathon
- Skipping workshop for all the children
- camogie blitz for first class
- Junior Infants open evening on Tuesday 29th May
- School photos
Many thanks to you all for your continued support which is very much appreciated,
beir bua,
Eddie

Walk to school week
Next week is national walk to school week. As part of the event we would like as many families as possible to ditch their cars and walk to school. The aim is for 30000 extra children to walk or park and stride during the week.

Student Council elections
All the children in Lucan East have been busy voting for who they would like to represent them in the Student Council. Well done to all those who have been elected and we can’t wait to see what great changes they will bring to the school.
